Emma, James and Stephanie attended the two-day sex workers and violence inception meeting (see official title above). P4P will provide technical support on this five-country research project (based on methodologies developed for The Change Project), and so we were invited to join the meeting as technical stakeholders.
P4P presented on the qualitative research methodology of the project. Discussions were also held around the clarification of roles and responsibilities at the regional and national level.
I attended the Asian parliamentarians on "Preventing and Responding to Violence against Women and Girls: From Legislation to Effective Enforcement" and presented on how to engage men and boys for violence prevention, and how to make public policy that effectively incorporates prevention approaches. I also conducted final stages of data collection for the MP research project. The MPs report is now currently under going peer review.
Stephanie traveled to Hanoi to conduct a day-long training workshop with the Vietnam research team. The workshop covered masculinities and gender analyses, as well as discussions and activities on life history methodologies. The day included a review of preliminary findings of the Vietnam qualitative data set.
James and Stephanie attended the three-day WHO workshop in Manila, on preventing IP and SV in the Asia Pacific region. The workshop was jointly supported by Partners for Prevention and WHO. The coursework of the workshop covered nine modules on IP/SV prevention, which were based on the WHO Preventing Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Against Women: Taking Action and Generating Evidence manual, published in 2010.
Interviewed parliamentarians for data collection of policy-makers knowledge, awareness and advocacy of violence against women and VAW prevention during the AFPPD South Asia Parliamentarians' Workshop on Advancing Reproductive Health and Rights.
Travel to Chiang Mai for AFPPD parliamentarians meeting to gather interviews with parliamentarians regarding GBV and violence prevention. Interviews collected will inform implementation of Blue Print for Action of the Standing Committee of Male Parliamentarians.
