This qualitative report was documents the changes and impact brought about by the male advocates clubs in Da Nang, Viet Nam. The male advocate clubs were part of an intervention that aimed to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing harmful masculinities and changing social norms.
This report identifies the key lessons learned from the implementation of the Male Advocate Project in Viet Nam, an intervention designed to prevent violence against women and girls through the promotion of non-violent masculinities and gender equitable attitudes amongst men. The report was developed by Partners for Prevention in collaboration with the Da Nang Women's Union, and it reflects on the collective experience of both organisations during the one-year intervention.

The Women’s Union, UN Women, UNV and UNFPA, with support of Partners for Prevention, are implementing a VAWG prevention project in Da Nang. The intervention addresses some key risk factors for VAWG, as identi ed in the UN Multi-Country Study on Men and Violence. The intervention works with youth and older men to transform harmful masculinities and engage men to become male advocates in their communities for violence prevention through a volunteerism component.

This facilitator manual was finalised following regular inputs by our male advocate participants, our volunteer facilitators and the invaluable organisations P4P has been working with, among which the Da Nang Women’s Union, UN Women and UNV.
