Who We Are
Partners for Prevention: Working to Prevent Violence against Women, is an interagency initiative of UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women and UNV in Asia and the Pacific.
This initiative unites four UN partners under a single regional programme team, and consolidates the unique strengths, experiences and areas of expertise of these agencies to create a more comprehensive regional response to gender-based violence.
The programme team consists of a Programme Coordinator, Programme Specialist, Research Specialist, Communcations Specialist and Programme Associate.
The Partners for Prevention Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is composed of specialists from the participating UN organisations. The TAG has advocated for and supported the setting up and growth of Partners for Prevention since the programme’s inception in 2008. The group provides guidance on programme priorities, offers expert advice related to GBV and its prevention and contributes to their technical monitoring.
A Regional Steering Committee provides guidance and oversight of Partners for Prevention, and includes a Deputy Regional Director appointed by each agency.
Partners for Prevention is also the hub for a diverse regional community comprised of civil society and government partners, researchers and activists, UN and other development practitioners.
The long term goal of this programme is to reduce the prevalence of violence against women in the Asia-Pacific region through:
-
Behavioural and attitudinal change especially among boys and men.
Increased institutional knowledge and capacity to involve boys and men in GBV prevention.
Enhanced policy responses for violence prevention.
